Biography

Maria was born on or just before 27 March 1805 in Stiphout in the Netherlands as child of Goort van Dyck and Hendrina van Dyck - van Duynhoven. She was baptized on 27 March 1805 in the Roman Catholic St. Trudo Church of Stiphout.^[1]

In 1841 she had a child: Catharina.^[2] Catharina was born outside marriage and the father is unknown.^[3]

Maria worked as a laborer and she never married.^[4] She passed away on 11 September 1849 in Stiphout at the age of 44.^[4]

Research notes

• Maria was baptized on 27 March 1805.^[1] In these times children were baptized as soon after birth as possible, to prevent that the child would die unbaptized (and could not go to heaven). Hence Maria would have been born on 27 March 1805 or in the days before.
• The following name variants are used for Maria:
  • Helena Maria van Dyck on her baptism registration (Latin).^[1]
  • Maria van Dijk on her the birth certificate of her daugther Catharina and her death certificate (Dutch).^[2][4]
